Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin is a distinguished business leader whose career is characterized by exceptional academic achievements, notable affiliations, and a significant impact on the business landscape.

He began his education at Motijheel Government High School and earned his Higher Secondary Certificate from Shahidullah College. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from AMA Computer College in the Philippines, reflecting his strong foundation in technology. Further advancing his academic journey, he completed an MBA from Rochville University in the United States, establishing himself as a globally oriented business professional.

Mr. Abedin’s dedication to education is evident in his role as Founder and Member of the Board of Trustees of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) since 1994. Under his guidance, AIUB has emerged as a distinguished center of quality education in Bangladesh and internationally. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2018 and again from 2022 to 2024, playing a pivotal role in shaping the university’s growth and academic excellence. Currently, he continues to serve as Founder and Member of the Board of Trustees, underscoring his enduring commitment to higher education.

As Secretary General of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB), Mr. Abedin is actively involved in shaping the future of higher education in the country. His memberships in prominent organizations—including the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), and India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI)—demonstrate his commitment to fostering international collaboration and promoting business development.

An accomplished entrepreneur, Mr. Abedin has launched and managed multiple successful businesses in Bangladesh. He serves as Managing Director of Chemlube Limited, a distributor of MAK Lubricants, and is associated with Shanzaib Limited, engaged in import and export trading. He also oversees Shanzaib Food & Beverage Limited, specializing in international food trade, and Shanzaib Solutions Limited, a leading IT solutions provider involved in distribution, export, and import. Additionally, he holds the position of Chairman of American Dairy Limited, illustrating his versatility in guiding diverse business ventures to success.

Beyond his business pursuits, Mr. Abedin is actively involved in prominent social and recreational clubs, including Gulshan Club Limited, Uttara Club Limited, Kurmitola Golf Club, Baridhara Cosmopolitan Club Limited, Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave Club Limited, and Air Force Golf Link.

His outstanding contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the World Education Award 2023, the Commonwealth Business Excellence Award 2023, and the MAK Lubricants Distributor Award 2018.
